Elijah Baker Ridgway according to my records was the youngest child in his family. So, it must have been after his father died in 1837, that he moved to Marshall county, Alabama. He shows up on the 1840 census in Marshall Co. He bought land in July of 1845. Marshall Co. Al is beautiful country and good farming and at that time not very far from the Tennessee River. After the Guntersville Dam was built his land is only a few miles from the back water.

His nephew's William W. moved to Blount Co thus making it a great place for the Ridgeway family to settle.

Ridgway Cemetery was the original family burial ground on Elijah Baker Ridgway's property. It was transferred in 1905 to a board of trustees by Sarah Jane Ridgway, daughter of Elijah and Clarissa Ridgway.
