After the death of John Calvin's father J.S. Askins from cholera July 22, 1873, in Union City TN, his mother Margaret Ann married James Newton Cannon on July 9, 1880. CSA 4 Corporal John Scott Askins' grave is in the Old City View Cemetery in Obion County TN. A monument dedication was held 2013. Margaret was buried Charity Cemetery in Madison County AL. Her parents Manley Madison & Martha Pina "Patsy" Koonce Hairston were buried in the Hairston Cemetery LC TN.
