Parents: Johann "Nikolaus" Bohn and Gertrud Heckmann.

Widower of Barbara Schaad.

He was the 8th child and 5th son of the marriage of Johann "Nikolaus" Bohn and his 2nd wife, Gertrud Heckmann. Nicolaus was born at 3:00 in the morning; and baptized by Rev. Phillipp Krick, at St. Laurentius, the Catholic Church in Wald Michelbach. His sponsor was Nicholaus Friedrich, of Furth.

Like many merchants of the South, at the close of the Civil War, Nicholas found that he would have to start life all over again. He started to mend his shattered business, and by good management, energy and steadfastness of purpose, he gradually worked up from his former position to a position of affluence, and gained a lasting spot of regard and admiration in the opinion of his fellow townspeople.

On the 1870 Pass Christian, Harrison Co., Mississippi Census, he is listed as Nicholas Bohn, a 38 year old, Hessian Darmstadt native, a shoemaker. His estate was valued at $700.00 and his personal estate was valued at $250.00. Living with him are his wife, Barbara Bohn, and children, Josephine, Henry, Martha, George, William and Anna Bohn.
On the 1880 Pass Christian, Harrison Co., Mississippi Census, he is listed as N. Bohn, a 48 year old, German native, a shoemaker. He owned a shoe store. Living with him are his wife, Barbara Bohn, and children, Henry, Martha, George, Willie, Annie, Matilda and Julia Bohn.

*Buried in Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian, MS.
His marker has the inscription, "THOSE WHO LOVED HIM BEST, LOVED HIM MOST."
