Oswald J. Baer, aged 75 years, passed away at his home, 610 Fourth St. S. W., in Waseca, on Monday, May 1st. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on April 26th, from which he did not recover. Oswald Baer was a native of Germany, born at Stuttgart, on February 7, 1864. He spent his boyhood days in Germany and came to America when he was about 15 years of age. For some time he farmed in St. Mary township, but later went to North Dakota, where he remained for a little over six years and then returned to Waseca. Mr. Baer was married on March 10, 1887 to Wilhelmina Melchior, who preceded him in death July 2, 1924. Three sons were born to them, Charlie, Walter and Bernard, all of Waseca, who survive, besides his second wife, Cecelia Freeman Baer, whom he married July 21, 1925; four grandchildren; two brothers, Herman and Charlie Baer of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Speigler of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Schultz of Des Plaines, Ill. He had been employed at the C. & N. W. Ry. Round house for 22 years as stationary engineer. He retired 10 years ago. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Pfaff Home for Funerals. Rev. W. E. Shields officiated and interment was made in Woodville cemetery. Pall bearers were V. A. Harshman, Henry Blaeser, E. H. Buland, Edgar Cleland, Albert Bartelt and John Brown.
