Son of Joseph Meckes and Mary Ann Schafer.

Nathan Meckes and his first wife, Margaret "Maggie" Yeck were married 31 Mar 1907 by Francis Reghery . After her death, Nathan married his second wife, Anna Matilda Beer (daughter of Thomas Beer and Anna Seyfried) 25 Dec 1938 at Bowmanstown.

On 12 September 1918 Nathan registered for the draft of World War I. At that time he was living at Bowmanstown, PA, and was a foreman for the New Jersey Zinc Co. at Palmerton, PA. He was of medium height and build and had brown eyes and brown hair.

Nathan later became a farmer and was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church of Bowmanstown. He belonged to the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lehighton and the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co. He died at his home at 113 White Street in Bowmanstown and was buried in Bowmanstown Cemetery by the Kegel Funeral Home of Palmerton, PA. (Obit in "Allentown Morning Call", Friday, 2 March 1956)
