Joseph Preston Bolinger, age 71, well known pioneer citizen of Wharton Creek, passed away at his home on May 31. His death was due to a heart attack. He ha been ill for about three years.

Mr. Bolinger was born Sept. 11, 1877 on Wharton Creek, and was a life-long resident of the community. He was the son of H. H. Bolinger and Polly Ann Parker Bolinger. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors are his widow, Alice Bolinger of the home; a son Grayson Bolinger, an employee of Brashears Funeral Home here; four brothers, Jim Bolinger of Wesley; Albert and Sherman both of Huntsville; and Berry Bolinger of California; four sisters; Mrs. Tennie Bowman of Huntsville; Mrs. Nancy Stansell of Wharton Creek; Mrs. Rebecca Westbrook and Mrs. Carrie Dotson, both of California; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock the afternoon of June 1 at the Assembly of God Church in Huntsville Officiating ministers were Rev. Burr Wiggins and Rev. Cecil Garrison. Burial was in the Huntsville cemetery by the Brashears Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Dewey Harris, Ted Sutton, Jess Harris, Jahu Easterling, Oliver Dotson, and Virgil Weathers. Honorary pallbearers were Jim McConnell, J. B. Harris, R. B. Harris and Dean Sutton.
