Mr. Shaffer had the distinction of being the oldest past worshipful master of the Tippecanoe Masonic Lodge 174, and was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Dayton.
He was born December 4, 1877, in Huntington, Indiana, son of Dewitt Clinton and Nina Ellen Moslander Shaffer, and attended the Huntington, Ind. schools. On January 15, 1903, he was united in marriage to Ethel Yount in Tipp City.
Mr. Shaffer was a former electrician of the Hobart Manufacturing Company, and in later years was engaged in electrical contract work.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Shaffer; two sons, Carl R. and John Edward Shaffer, both of Tipp City; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hommel of Dayton and Mrs. Grace Haney of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.
Rev. Donald Shaw officiated at the service Sunday. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
