Mrs. Taylor was born September 23, 1918 in Graham, TX to Thaddeus Pickett and Bertie Belle (Curtis) Simpson. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1956. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1937 and Texas Tech in 1953. She married Sherman Elby Taylor on June 10, 1945 in Young County. She taught school for 30 years in New Deal, Tahoka, Littlefield and Lubbock, and she taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Red Bud Lions Club.
She is survived by her sons, Gene Taylor of Lubbock and John Strappazon and wife Wanda of Oklahoma and their daughter Lindsay of Fort Worth, and her sister, Lillie Logan of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993, and a son, Bobby Frank Taylor, in 1997.
