Preston Wiley Bedwell was the oldest son of William F. Bedwell and Olive Mae Waldie. He was the brother to Eveline A. Bedwell and William Langston Bedwell. He was the half-brother to Merrill, Eliza Deloris, Maurine and James Madison Bedwell, Jr. Sometime around 1927 he married Lucille Vera Robinson, and the couple had at least two children: Darlene Adelle and Preston Wiley, Jr. He worked as a "brakeman" for the railroad.
