Jesse Herbert Fondren was married at one time to woman name Eva Mae Eades I remember Mother saying that Jesse & Jennifer stay with us in South Haleyville at one time. Don't know why mother call her Jennifer as records that I have found says Eva Mae Eades. Jesse was my favourite Uncle. He lived mostly off of the land. He made his living in the 40s - 60s by trapping Mink, Raccoon, fox and other fur bearing animals in the Winter and selling the skins and in the Summer he would dig roots such as white ash , Ginseng ,star root and more and sell them at the old trading store at Houston AL that served as a post office also.He would also sell wild honey that we got by robbing the bee trees that we had found while tramping through the forest. He lived in an old log cabin in the forest at Houston until it burned down one winter. He stayed that winter with his sister Vera Fondren my mother and the next spring moved then to live under a bluff for the next few years.I would stay with him when school was out for a couple of weeks both in the cabin and under the bluff .His brother John Cooper Fondren batch in the old Houston Jail house at that time.I would not take anything for my memories of my time spent hunting, fishing, trapping, digging white ash roots, gathering wild honey with him. I named one of my sons after then(Jesse John Kelley)
