Dr. Leander Jones was born in Platte Co., MO, Oct 1, 1856 and died at his home on E. 5th St., July 29, 1920 age 63 years, 9 months and 29 days. He was married to Perlina E. Cooper on Oct. 18,1883 and to this union were born 5 children, Attye E., Juanita J., and Ellis W. of this place and Grayce Maudean of St. Louis. Also Cordelia A. who died in infancy. His regular work of the Gospel Ministry began when he was 34 years old and continued for 9 years. His earnest and sound preaching in many protracted meetings which he led will be recalled by many who read this obituary. He was likewise a faithful pastor and Shepard of the Congregations and Committees he served. Besides his wife and 4 children, there remain to mourn their loss his mother-in-law, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, M.M. Jones, A.D. Jones who resides on the farm near here, Mrs. Martha Ford of Cameron, Mrs. Mahala Allen of Denver and Mrs. Sarah Van Hoozer of New Hampton. The funeral service which was held July 31 at the home in Stanberry was conducted by Rev C., organ music assisted by Rev. J. Carlton Wetterhan following a short service by Rev. Wetterhan at Monroe Church, the scene of so much the body of this faithful servant of the Lord was laid to rest in the cemetery at the side of the church. Buried Island City, Monroe Church."

Please note that the marriage date given in the obit is later than the birth and death date of daughter Cordelia, but I have no way of knowing if the marriage date was originally incorrect, or just miss-copied later, or if the dates for the daughter are wrong.
