Lorenzo Herrera, 63, of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, on his birthday, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Rachel Herrera; his sons Mario and Ray Herrera; his grandson, Xavier; sister Sally Olona and husband Phillip; and brother Charlie "Chaz" Herrera and wife Gloria. Lorenzo's passion for researching the genealogical roots of his family led him down paths of history, friendship and love of those in his life. His path from Maxwell, NM to "The Pit" at UNM was well traveled, most recently with his cherished grandson, Xavier.
