Joe J. Pieprzyca, a resident of Panna Maria, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 22 days.

Mr. Pieprzyca was retired. He worked for Susquehanna, Chevron, and Conoco in the uranium mining operations. In later years, he worked for Wehman Inc. He also farmed and ranched. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A lifelong resident of Panna Maria, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

Preceded in death by: parents, Anton and Albina Laskowski Pieprzyca; brothers, Leonard Pieprzyca and Walter Pieprzyca; sisters, Annie Allison, Barbara Pawelek, and Helen Pieprzyca.

Survivors include: wife, Mary Jarzombek Pieprzyca, whom he married Oct. 20, 1943 in Cestohowa; son, Tony Pieprzyca (Lori); sister, Cecilia Biela; numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, in the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Wojciech Reisch officiated the services.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery.
