Leonard Arvid Ek, 92, was born on October 15, 1917 in Kelso, WA, and passed away on October 15, 2009 in Battle Ground, WA. He grew up in Mist, OR. He resided in Clark County since 1945.

Leonard married Helen (Levanen) on July 2, 1941and later married Edith Efraimson.
He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. The greatest joy in his life was his spiritual family.

He had a special love for children.
Leonard worked as a machinist at Columbia Machine. He also enjoyed working on heavy equipment and operated a small gravel pit.

Survivors include six sons: Douglas with Diane of Yacolt, WA, Fremont with Louise, Gunnar with Elaine, Byron with Lenore of Battle Ground, Gary with Darlene, David with Linda of Vancouver; two daughters: Sharon with Joe Sarkkinen of Battle Ground, Ingrid (Ruonavaara) with Barry Milbrandt of Kalispell, MT; one brother, Walter Ek; four sisters: Gertrude Levanen, Elizabeth Lindberg, Ruth Charlson and Louise Homola, all of Battle Ground; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of Christian friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1988; his son, Roger; infant son, James; son-in-law, Robert Ruonavaara; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Ek; sisters, Ellen, Rachael and Anne; parents, John and Anna; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be on Sun., Oct. 18, 2009 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The funeral services will be held on Mon., Oct. 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Both viewing and services to be held at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church at 16603 NE 142nd Avenue, Brush Prairie, WA.
