Miss Roberta Houghton
Miss Roberta Houghton, 48, of Ithaca R.D. died at Tompkins County Hospital Sunday, April 23, 1967, after a long illness.
She was born in Ithaca, daughter of Mrs. Leeta C. Houghton of Ithaca, and the late Charles E. Houghton. She attended Ithaca High School and was graduated from Northfield Seminary with honors in 1935.
Miss Houghton attended Cornell University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, and received the B.S. degree from University of New York in Cortland in 1942. She taught school in Tompkins County and, from 1946 to 1956, in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Miss Houghton was one of the first members of Polar Bear Club of Taughannock Park. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Betty II. McIIale of Ithaca and Miss Virginia L. Houghton of Syracuse; a brother, Charles E. Houghton of Ithaca; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Warren Traub will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
