THE CHARITON DEMOCRAT

DIED - At his home in Lushton, Nebraska, on February 19, 1899, T. J. Farber, aged forty-eight years. He had been ill but a few weeks with typhoid fever and his death came as a shock to his family and friends.
The remains were brought to this city and on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, at two o'clock, funeral services were held at the First Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Geo. Brown, assisted by Rev. Marion Sigler of Waterloo. The remains were laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery.
Thomas Jefferson Farber was born in Warren township, this county, January 7, 1851. On September 2, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Elva Barger of Derby. They went to housekeeping in Lucas where he was employed in Baker's store. In 1888 they moved to Lushton where he was engaged in the mercantile business.
He was a member of the United Brethren church and lived a consistent Christian life. He was a man of most excellent traits of character, a loving husband and a kind father. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodmen of America and these orders attended the funeral services in a body.
The sorrowing wife and four children have the sympathy of a host of Lucas county friends.
J. B. Farber of St. Joseph, Mo., Edward Farber of Hoxie, Kansas, Mrs. Minnie Wilson of Ottumwa, Mrs. W. T. Curtis of Russell, Albert Farber, Mrs. C. F. Carpenter and Mrs. J. M. Mitchell of Warren township, brothers and sisters of the deceased, were in attendance at the last sad rites. One brother, Caleb Farber of Hoxie, Kansas, was unable to be present.
