Son of Henry Barker (abt. 1786-1823) and Catherine "Caty" Back (1787-1867), who were married December 28, 1807 in Lexington, Fayette, KY. Henry and Catherine (Back) Barker were also the parents of John Barker (1809-1887) of Perryville, Boyle, KY, who married Lydia Silvertooth (1815-1854) in 1832, both buried in Perryville Cemetery, Boyle County, KY; and Joseph Barker (1816-1868) of Perryville, Boyle, KY, who married Mary Kirkland (abt. 1817-aft. 1900) in 1842. Catherine (Back) Barker and John Potts were married January 29, 1825 in Mercer County, KY. They had a son, Henry B. Potts (1826-aft. 1880), who married Mary Ellen Campbell in 1850, and a daughter, Mary Ann Potts (abt. 1828-abt. 1865), who married Eli H. Graves in 1846.
