Jeanne A. Schulmeister, 69, of rural Oelwein, Iowa passed away on Friday evening, January 8, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of the Christian Burial: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein with Rev. John Purtell. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein. Scripture Service: 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa. Jeanne Audrey Guritz was born on August 4, 1940 at Maynard, Iowa, the daughter of Willard A. & Ardelle Elizabeth (Logan) Guritz. She was the oldest of four siblings. Jeanne attended West Central High School at Maynard. Jeanne was united in marriage to Edward George Schulmeister on December 21, 1957 at Oelwein, Iowa. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She worked at Montgomery Wards in Oelwein for eleven years. Jeanne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary Society. She enjoyed camping near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and spending time with her family.

Jeanne is survived by her Husband: George Schulmeister of Oelwein; 2 Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Mike & Sandy Schulmeister of Oelwein & Chris & Jeanie Schulmeister of Havre de Grace, Maryland; Daughter & Son-In-Law: Georjean & Joe Montgomery of Allen, Texas; 6 Grandchildren: Bryan Schulmeister, Shawn Schulmeister, John Schulmeister, Matthew Montgomery, Samantha Schulmeister and Emma Schulmeister; 1 Great Grandson: Shayne Schulmeister; 2 Sisters: her twin sister: Judy (Albert) Bunn of Maynard & Eleanor (Robert) Wason of Fairbank.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Nancy Cosselman.

A tribute to our mother: The day God called you home, in tears we saw you sinking and watched you fade away, our hearts were breaking. Then we saw you sleeping so peaceful from pain. We celebrate your tremendous life and thank you for always being there for us, a loving and gracious mother. We will cherish your memory forever.
