D. Vento, Catholic Priest officiated the wedding. Attendants were Bortolo Martini and Maria Machetti. Elias, 24, was an iron ore miner and the son of Joseph and Angela Rosatti. Maria, 17, was a boarding house keeper and the daughter of Peter and Theresa Marchetti.
GOLDEN WEDDING
Tomorrow evening, Dec. 17, 1937, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Rosatti will celebrate the termination of 50 years of married bliss and contentment. These congenial and beloved pioneers have the best wishes of the community for continued happiness and long life.
Mrs. Maria Rosatti was born in Tyrol, Austria in 1871 and came to America in 1886. Mr. Rosatti was also born in Tyrol, Austria in 1863 and 19 years (1882) later a resident of this city (Norway, Mich).
The honorees were married at St. Barbara's Church, Vulcan, by Rev. Fr. Vento, Dec. 17, 1887. To this union 2 daughters and 6 sons were born: Mrs. A. H. Ropele of Norway, Sister M. Lorettine of Chicago, Joseph, Fargo, N.D., Edward and Arthur of Lansing, Rudolph and Ralph of Norway. The untimely death of the 6th son, David, occurred 17 years ago last Sept. ELIAS ROSATTI, OLD RESIDENT, DIES AT 79
Elias Rosatti, one of Norway’s oldest residents, died last night at his home in the 3rd ward, following a brief illness.
Born in Romania, Austria, he came to Norway on January 1, 1882, to work in the iron ore mines. He retired in 1923.
Mr. Rosatti became an American Citizen April 10, 1889, after examination in the old Menominee Courthouse.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Sister M. Lorettine, St. Franciscan Order, Bellwood, Nebraska and Mrs. Henry Ropelle, Norway; 5 sons: Joseph, an architect, Fargo, South Dakota; Rudolph, engineer for the Michigan State Highway; Edward and Ralph employed on war work, Lansing, Mich. and Private Arthur Rosatti, United States Army, Camp Livingston, Alabama;
12 grandchildren, 1 of whom is with the American Armed Forces in the Solomon Islands; 1 great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Louise Bertognoli, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Burial will be in Norway Cemetery.
