Elizabeth "Bette" Wilfahrt, 81, of New Ulm died Monday, January 18, 2010 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Monsignor John A. Richter will celebrate the Mass.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Wednesday and 7:30 - 10:00 AM Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Wednesday at the Cathedral.

Bette is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Faber of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a son, Mike Wilfehrt and his wife Connie Ball Wilfehrt of Pequot Lakes; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan Wilfahrt on August 6, 2005; and her son-in-law, Al Faber in 2001.

Elizabeth Louise Zischka was born December 5, 1928 in New Ulm to Herbert and Rose (Wiltscheck) Zischka. She was a graduate of New Ulm High School and also attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. Bette was united in marriage to Stan Wilfahrt on August 8, 1949 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in Gibbon for five years before moving back to New Ulm where they resided the rest of their lives. Bette cared for her father for many years before his death. She volunteered at Oak Hills and the Red Cross Bloodmobile. Bette was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, CCW, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters and the New Ulm Medical Center Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Oak Hills Living Center or to NUACS/Stan Wilfahrt Memorial Scholarship.
