Catherine Cain lived to see the fourth generation; she was the mother of 13, grandmother of 69 and great-grandmother of 55. She embraced religion and was a charter member of the Methodist Protestant church at Mount Olive.
Catherine's funeral sermon was preached Sabbath morning, January 29, 1888, in the Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Marion by Rev. G.E. Lancaster, from Hebrews 11, 14-16, to a large congregation of neighbors and friends.
Cemetery records state that she is buried by the side of her husband but no grave marker has been found.
