Laura's interment date is July 15, 1870 based on church records. Her surname is also Lacy. Laura is buried in the area of the cemetery that was reserved for people who did not have money for burial. Her burial is notable because she not only has the only headstone in that area of the cemetery, but she also has a footstone. This seems to indicate that she was important to someone with financial resources. Few people who were non-Caucasian were buried in this cemetery.

According to Robert Cooper:

According to the 1870 census, Laura, her mother, and her sister were domestic servants of the Edward Ogden family, prominent citizens of Cinnaminson Township, NJ and members of Christ Church, Episcopal in Riverton. She was African-American, and was 16 when she died according to the census; the church records indicate she was 15. Her funeral was conducted by H. Hastings Weld, one of the early pastors of Christ Church. It is possible that she was buried in this location due to her race; it is on the eastern boundary of the cemetery.

If Laura was buried from the Christ Church building in Riverton, that church was moved in 1884 to Palmyra, when the new Riverton was constructed, and it sits on Parry Ave, within sight of Epworth Methodist Cemetery where she is buried.
