Nichlaus was born 24 January 1713, probably in the Palatine, and died 26 March 1790 in Upper Milford Township, Northampton County, Pa. His wife, Julianna, was probably born about 1720, also probably in the Palatine, and died sometime after 1801 most probably in Northampton County, Pa. It is not known when they were married but it is assumed to be about 1750.
Nichlaus arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Phoenix under Captain John Mason, from Rotterdam, via Cowes (England). He signed the oath of allegiance at the Court House of Philadelphia on 28 August 1750 (from a 3 volume set of books edited by Wm J. Henke - these books contain Photostats of the ships lists and lists signed at the court register). It was Rev. William A. Yeisley's research that determined Nichlaus was the common ancestor to all known Yeisley families.
A deed was recorded for 50 A. in the name of Nichlaus Yeisli on September 5, 1751, Bucks County (Pa. archives, series 3, Vol. xxiv, p.177). At that time and until 1752, Bucks County consisted of what is now Bucks and parts of Northampton and Lehigh Counties. The farm was most probably in Williams Township south of Easton, Pa.
The Personal and Pastoral Records of the Rev. John Henry Helffpich (1790 - 1810), Film # 00220356-07 contains the death/burial record of Nichlaus ----- March 26, 1790, Nic Jeisly, 77y, 2m, 2d buried in Milford, now Lehigh Co, Pa.
