Earnest Copeland died March 10, 2009 in Littleton, Colorado. Earnest was born near Mullinville, Kansas on June 25, 1925 to parents Earl and Eunice Copeland.

He lived most of his life in Kansas and Colorado, where he farmed and was a long term employee of Martin-Marietta, working on a variety of space launch vehicles. Earnest was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruby and his son, Michael.

Earnest was a long-time member and lay leader of Littleton Christian Church.

He is greatly missed by daughters, Suzette McLain and husband Thomas, Tena Shaddox and husband Keith, Gay Copeland Redden and husband Mark. Also, surviving are grandchildren, Myles Copeland, Luke Copeland, Tai Mendenhall, Tiffany Martin, Carrie McLain, Angela Norris, Vanessa Shaddox, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Earnest's Life will be held at Olinger's Hampden Gardens, 8600 East Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO at 4 pm on April 4, 2009. Cards and remembrances are welcome. Memorial contributions should be made to Porter's Hospice at Johnson Center, 5020 E Arapahoe Rd., Littleton, CO 80122. Published in Denver Post on March 22, 2009
