Chester Mountz Dies at 62; Rites Are Wednesday

Chester LeRoy Mountz. 62. of the Garrett hotel, a resident of Garrett for 50 years, died Monday in bed while asleep somewhere between midnight and 5 a. m. He had been ill a month with heart trouble and asthma. Heart failure caused his death.

He was a painter and decorator.

Mr. Mountz was born Jan. 19. 1889, in Chicago. Five years ago he married Mrs. Anna Gilbert Daughtery of Garrett. Both were previously married.

Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Chester LeRoy Mountz Jr. and Chas. W. Mountz, both of 407 Covell street, Garrett, and Eli Boyer of the Garrett hotel: four daughters, Mrs. Paul Grossman of Wyandotte, Mich., Mrs. Gerald Wiler of Gary, Mrs. Lee Samanigo of Las Cruses. N. M., and Mary Ellen Mitchell of Chicago: the mother, Mrs. Ella Mountz of Sacred Heart home, Avilla: four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Zollinger of Albion, Mrs. Esther Hawk of Grabill, Ind., Mrs. Dorothy Brimcomb of Windsor, Can., and Ursull Drerup of Auburn; and 15 grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Carl C. McKee funeral home where final rites will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. Burial will follow in Cedar Chapel cemetery, southeast of Garrett.

Mr. Mountz was a World war I veteran and a member of the American Legion post in Garrett.
