Cora E. Burns was my great grand-aunt, being the sister of my great-grandmother, Hattie M. Burns Leamons Brown. Although Cora died before my birth I grew up hearing many wonderful stories about her. She was known as the "child care giver" of the family. Although Cora was a "Little Person" she lived a full life and was much loved. After her sister's husband died, John Frank Leamons, Cora lived for ten years with Hattie to help raise the children. She spent time living with all her siblings to help with the children. Also even after those children grew up and had babies of their own she helped those nieces and nephews with their children. My own mother once told me that when she was 4 years old, in 1934, she remembered arguing with Cora about who would sit in the child's rocking chair since it was just the right size for both of them.
