Margaret Nissen, 82, died Dec. 19, 2000 of natural causes at a Havre care center.

Funeral services were held in the American Lutheran Church in Harlem with burial at the Harlem Cemetery.

Nissen was born in Drake, N.D. to Reinhold and Margaretha (Horning) Uhlich on May 24, 1918. She attended country school in North Dakota, and church confirmation lessons were learned in German.

Nissen married Leo Nissen on September 23, 1940 in Glasgow. They worked for various ranches in the Harlem area, including the H.W. Crossen Sheep Ranch. She cooked for lambing, shearing, and haying crews. In 1945 they organized the Crossen-Nissen Corporation, and she was secretary-treasurer of the corporation for fifty-five years.

Nissen was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the Busy XX Home Demonstration Club. She loved to visit her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1995. Survivors include her sons, Larry Nissen of Chinook and Jim Nissen of Harlem; daughters, Margaret Ann Peterson of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Dorothy Bevolden of Harlem; twelve grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; brother, Rudy Uhlich of Harlem; sisters, Minnie Main of Frederick, Md., and Magdalena Uhlich of Harlem.
