George is the son of Moses and Elizabeth Templeton Shively.

County's Oldest Man To Be Buried Monday
George W. Shively - Dies at 99

Funeral services for Macon County's Oldest Man, George W. Shively, 99 year old Wheatland township farmer who died early Saturday in his home, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Dawson & Wikoff Chapel, with the burial in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mr. Shively would have been 100 years old, tomorrow, New Year's Day.
In 1859, he came to Decatur in a covered wagon and settled near Stevens Creek and Harristown. Ten years later, he bought a farm near Elwin and had lived there for the last 70 years.

He cast his first vote in a presidential election for Abraham Lincoln.

On January 1, 1861, he married he married Elizabeth Wright, in Harristown. She died in July of 1909.

Mr. Shively had been a member of the Elwin Methodist Church since 1874.

He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Clara Egbert, of Los Angeles; a son, C. B. "Bert" Shively, rural route 2, Macon; three great-grandchildren and five grandchildren, including Mrs. Guy (Fleta) Purdue, rural route 6, Decatur, with whom he had made his home for the past year.
