Robert was the youngest of the three children of Hiram Peter and Elizabeth (Gregg) Abbey. He and Miss Mary Elizabeth Hilliard wed around 1894 and had seven children. Robert was an Ontario County farmer.

Allen's Hill, N. Y. - Robert Abbey, 76, who had lived in this locality all his life, died unexpectedly Saturday night on the way to Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Milton Munson of Centerfield and Mrs. Frank Earing of Canandaigua; three sons, Robert of Lima, Clarence of Canadice, and George of Canandaigua; nineteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday at 2 o'clock, with burial in Evergreen cemetery, Baptist Hill, Bristol.
