Abraham Minchew (or Minshew) was one of the earliest settlers of Ware County dnd moved there about 1825, He was born in Dobbs County, N.C., Oct. 12, 1773, son of Abraham Minshew, Sr. The family moved to Effingham County, Ga., about the time of the commencement of the Revolution or soon after, and settled in the part made in 1793 into Sreven County, so that Abraham, the subject, grew to manhood there during those troublous years. When and where he married and his wife's maiden name has not been learned. Mrs. Fannie Minchew, his wife, was born Dec. 7, 1777, and died Nov. 24, 1837, according to the dates on her tombstone. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Minchew were seven known children:
