Delbert Fowler
Delbert Fowler, former Shelley resident, died July 4, 1989, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls following a sudden illness. He was born May 27, 1915, in Cotton, to John Hyrum and Mildred Jane Crofts Fowler. He attended schools in Shelley and Stanton. He married Florence Wiseman, April 4, 1935, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a signalman, retiring in 1975 after 34 years. He held many positions on the railroad, living in several different towns in Idaho. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen and enjoyed writing poetry, gardening and fishing. He was also an active member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include his wife of Pocatello; one son Kenneth Delbert Fowler of Pocatello; two daughters, Mrs. Garen (Ranae) Hale of Shelley, Mrs. Dennis (Janice) Millward of Idaho Falls; four brothers, Leland Fowler of Idaho Falls, Glen Fowler of Woodville, Melvin Fowler of Pocatello, Laveral Fowler of Nampa; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Pocatello LDS Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Richard Pincock officiating. Burial was in the Mountainview Cemetery in Pocatello.
