John Leland "Lee" Fowler, 81, of Idaho Falls, a farmer and longtime Rogers Brothers employee, died June 18, 1995, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 5, 1913, at Shelley, to John Hyrum and Mildred Jane Crofts Fowler. He grew up and attended schools in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School. Until moving to Idaho Falls 48 years ago, he lived in the Shelley and New Sweden area. On Nov. 10, 1934, he married Zora Denning at Idaho Falls. He was a farmer and worked at Rogers Brothers Potato Processing Plant for about 40 years. His wife died Sept. 16, 1974. He married Minnie M. Calkins Poorman on May 8, 1976, at Shelley.
An active member of the LDS Church, he served in many positions. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and all activities with his family, especially family reunions.
Survivors include his wife of Idaho Falls; children, Mrs. Dean (Connie) Campbell of Idaho Falls, Mrs. Lee (Sharon) Jackson of Menan, John W. Fowler of American Falls, and Mrs. George (Maxine) Baker of Boise; stepchildren, Jean Fowler of Shelley, Jeanette Heffling of Kennewick, Washington, Ruth Poole and Douglas Poorman of Springville, Utah; two brothers, Glen Fowler of Shelley, and Laveral Fowler of Nampa; 23 grandchildren; 22 step grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 37 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS Taylor Crossing Ward. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
