Historical information: The property located at 3821 West Milham Avenue in Portage, MI., was first owned by Allison Kivine (asa Kinne), sold in 1836 to brother-in-law Stephen Howard. It is believed that the first brick home, in the style of Greek Revival, was built on the site which is today within the City of Portage territorial limits. The home was built in 1858-1859. Allison Kinne owned the vacant property in which was later built on by brother in law Stephen Howard. This home still exist and is the one of the oldest homes in Portage.
