Mrs. John P. Schroeder, 83, nee Bertha Dreyer, died of old age at her home on Third street on Tuesday morning, after an illness of three weeks.

She was born in Burgdorf, Germany, on Oct. 5, 1842, and came to this country in 1858, settling in Plymouth. After a few years she came to Kiel with her father, Dr. Dreyer. She was married to Henry Koening, deceased, in 1858. This union was blessed with three children, all of whom preceded her in death.(sic)

Her marriage to Mr. Schroeder took place in 1876. Mrs. Schroeder was a registered druggist since 1881 and the couple conducted a general store and drug store until 1909, when they disposed of the general store, but retained the drug store up to the present day. She was a partial invalid for the past seven years.

The survivors are her husband, one son Berthold of Chicago, and one daughter, Mrs. Hattie Bauer of this city; also three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home to the Reformed Church, the Rev. W. Rech officiating. Burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery.
