"Mrs. Jess Crow, well known Versailles woman passed away at her home her Friday, Sept. 20, after several week's illness from asthma.
Mary Ellen Maroney was the daughter of John and Rebecca Jane Maroney and was born in Webster County, Mo, on January 21, 1870. On August 9, 1886, she was married to Jess Crow at Wellington, Kansas, and to this union were born three children, Mrs. Jack Reed of Attumwa, Iowa, Claude and Charley of Versailles. She is survived by the husband, the tghree children above mentioned, two grandchildren,, Alfred and Alice Reed and one half-sister.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Versailles Baptist church. Rev. B.F. Kennedy officiated. Interment was in the Versailles cemetery."
