He was one of twelve children: Tirzah, Mary, Elizabeth, Ede, Hannah, Samuel, Elanor, Mary II, John and Betsy.
He was young when his family moved to Blacklick Township. George would attend the log schoolhouse near his home.
He would work with his father Samuel until his death farming and stock raising. After the death of his father, George continued to run the farm. He made many improvements, building a barn and house, adding materially to the value of the property.
He took over the 175 acres owned by his father. Like his father he too was very successful in breeding horses, raising a number of blue ribbon animals, and also had other stock.
He married Jane McGee (1828-c.1908) in Indiana County, Pa. where they raised seven children together: Mary, Samuel Milton, Sarah Elizabeth, Emma, George Smith and Charles Stiffy.
George died in 1876 in Indiana COunty and is laid to rest with his wife Jane in Hopewell Cemetery, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
