Doris Ann Bethel Collins, passed away on December 31, 2009. She was 82 years, 10 months and 8 days old. Formerly of Wilburton, she was a resident of Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester for the past several months after having resided at Plantation House Assisted Living Center in Okmulgee for six months. Mrs. Collins was born February 23, 1927, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Beulah Lilly Davis Bethel and William Henry Bethel. She married her childhood sweetheart, Alvin Eugene Collins, on May 20, 1947. They were both 1944 graduates of Beggs High School. While Al went off to World War II, Doris worked as a telephone operator in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They were married for 57 wonderful years before Al's death in 2004.She is survived by their three children: daughters Sue Ann Pattison and husband Bob of Pocasset; Judy Kay Jones and husband Jim of Panola; and son, John Collins and wife Susan of McAlester. Also surviving her are six grandchildren, Amy Root and husband Ben of Oklahoma City, Laura Folland and husband John of Cache, Jason Collins and wife Christi of Clarksville, Arkansas, Jennifer Walker and husband Troy of Panola, Jennifer Collins of Stilwell and Sunny Monk of Tyler, Texas. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Bobby, Abby and Maisy Root of Oklahoma City; Adian, Zachary and Brody Folland of Cache; John Walter and Eva Collins of Clarksville; Madison Walker of Panola; Zachary Hawk of Stilwell; and Ali Grace Monk of Tyler Texas. She is also survived by her two sisters, Vera Jean Bethel Baker of Beggs and Betty Joyce Bethel Hudson of Okmulgee. Preceding her in death were her husband Al Collins; parents Beulah and Henry Bethel; brother Bill Bethel; brothers-in-law Paul Baker, Clyde Hudson, and Clifford (Jock) Collins and sisters-in-law, Jean Bethel and Mary Alice Breedlove and husband Dick.She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church. Pallbearers are her son John Collins; sons-in-law, Jim Jones and Bob Pattison; grandson Jason Collins; and nephews Mark Hudson and Jack Baker. Burial will be next to her husband in the family plot at Baldwin Cemetery in the Cravens area.Services will be Monday, January 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Panola Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Baldwin Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the Funeral Home.
