He was a native of Oconee County and was the son of Mr J B and Mrs Keturah Elder Burgess.
Surviving Mr Burgess are his wife and five children; two brothers, J B Burgess, Monroe; E R Burgess, Good Hope; two sisters, Mrs J B Thomas, Bishop and Mrs R W Allgood, Bogart.
