My grandfather, Early Roy Burgess, was a farmer and an inventor with several patents for cultivators designed for use with a mule and with a tractor.

In tiny Good Hope, Walton County, Georgia, he ran a blacksmith shop, on the corner of Pleasant Valley Road and Georgia Road 83.

Early Roy was a gentle giant of a man, soft-spoken and even-tempered, with wonderful blue eyes.
