Janice (Jan) Byram Smith of Gatesville died Sunday in a McGregor nursing bome. She was 41.
A memorial service was held Monday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Grogan and Rev. Rex Tilly officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
She was born January 8, 1952, in Gatesville, where she was reared and attended school. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1970 as an Honor Student and member of Who's Who. She loved sports and horses and was a devoted pianist.
Jan graduated from Baylor University in 1974 with a degree in business education. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and was named outstanding student in the Baylor Hankamer School of Business in 1974.
After her education, she was employed with a Gatesville public accounting firm, later to become a business teacher at Copperas Cove Independent School District.
Jan was preceded in death by her father. Ray H. Byrom in 1975.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gatesville.
Survivors include one son, Brandon Smith; her parents, Q.A.
(Pete) and Mildred Mclver; a sister, Sue Dixon; and a brother, David Byrom, all of Gatesville.
Pallbearers were Brandon Hester, Jeremy Smith, Geremy Keeton, Max Haile, Phil Haggerty, David Byrom and Pete Mclver.
For memorials, the family has designated Tarrant County Multiple Sclerosis Association, Inc., 617 Seventh Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas 76104-2776.
