He was born May 20, 1905 in Saint Jo to John W and Sally Amelia Abernethy. Mr Abernathy married Edith Parker Dec 28, 1943 in Mission. She preceded him in death May 31, 1983. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and he worked most of his life at cotton gins in Wellington and Hollis. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include a son, John Abernethy of Amarillo; a sister Evelyn Gordon of Hollis, a grandson, a granddaughter and a great grand -daughter, and a nephew, Forrest Abernethy of Wellington.
