Note:
The Macklin connection has been hard to straighten out. Accordingto Emanuel's death certificate, Jesse Macklin and Elizabeth Haag were his parents. Jesse Macklin married Elizabeth Haag on November 17, 1847, in Columbiana County, Ohio. The major drawback in placing Jesse has been the Census records. He showed up in 1850 with his father, Samuel, when in fact he should have been with Elizabeth and Emanuel. Then in 1860, he showed up with a wife named Sarah and several children, but no Emanuel. Also the oldest child was 10. According to this, ten years earlier in 1850, he should have been with Sarah and perhaps one infant.
In Samuel Macklin's will, Jesse is allowed to live on the farm, but the actual inheritance is Sally's, the daughter-in-law, and her children.
Jesse and Sarah remained married the rest of their lives. They lived on a farm in Unity Township, Columbiana County, Ohio. Jesse died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Dishong, on June 22, 1906. He was buried in New Springfield Cemetery in Mahoning County, Ohio.

Jesse is listed as an heir in the estate of Mary Macklin in 1869.
