Mary was daughter of Elias Berry BOWERS and Rutha America AKINS-BOWERS of Blue Ridge, Fannin County, Georgia She was raised on a large farm in neighboring Ivy Log, Union Co., GA but her father sold that farm and purchased the Old Central Hotel in Blue Ridge that he operated until his death.
Mary and Oscar ROBERTS married when they were very young and had two daughters while living in Ducktown, Polk County, Tennessee home to the area's large copper mines. Eileen married Al KIMBLE and moved to Lakeland, FL and Lucille married first Chet CARGILE and later Ethan BENNETT and lived in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia
