Bradley Million, 76, of McAlester, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Mercy Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints' Episcopal Church in McAlester. Burial will be at the Masonic section of Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

He was the son of Paul Tedmar and Edwina Teresa (Bradley) Million. He grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1951. While in high school he earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts. He attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1955. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and served as vice president. He was also a member of the Scabbard & Blade, a national military honor society and was president of the Marketing Club. He was commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the United States Army in May 1955. He served on active duty from October 1955 to Oct. 19, 1957, at which time he entered the Army Reserve until his retirement as a Lt. Colonel on Dec. 6, 1993. He married Barbara Ann Walker on Oct. 25, 1957, in Holdenville. He taught officer classes for 4156 Tulsa USAR School and also in McAlester, Durant and Muskogee. He received the Outstanding Instructor Award for 1972-1973 and 1975-1976 and taught 12 years for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He was a graduate of the U.S. Army Artillery Basic and Advanced courses, the Command and General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He owned and operated with his brother, Paul Million Jr., the Million Ford-Mercury dealership in McAlester from 1957 to 2000 and served as vice-president, secretary and president of the corporation. He was also a director and regional vice-president of the Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association over a period of 25 years. In 1995 he received the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award, one of only 67 awards nationally, which was sponsored by Time Magazine and Goodyear Tire and also received the OADA President's award in 1993. He was a 33rd Degree Mason as a member of the South McAlester Masonic Lodges 96 and 550, the York Rite, Jesters and the Red Cross of Constantine. He served as treasurer of the McAlester Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundations from 1982 to 2005. He served two terms as mayor of McAlester in 1976 to 1978 and 1978 to 1980. In 1979 he initiated a $10.9 million bond issue to build a new water plant, which was the largest bond issue passed that year in the state. While mayor he served as director of the Oklahoma Municipal Employees Retirement Fund based in Oklahoma City and was chairman of McAlester Public Works Authority, the Airport Authority and others. He was a member of McAlester Rotary Club and served as president in 1971 and as director for several years. He also served as president of McAlester Chamber of Commerce in 1972. He was a member of St. Mary's Hospital lay board of directors and the board of directors of the McAlester Foundation for 15 years, serving as secretary and vice-president. In April, 2005 he was appointed to a six year term on the McAlester Regional Health Center Authority. He was a lifelong member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in McAlester. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Annice Million Baumert and John L. Baumert, of Edmond; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Clark Bradley Million and Debra Jean Million, Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughters, Brooke Elizabeth Baumert, of Edmond, Anna Katherine Baumert, of Edmond, Sarah Rose Million, Fort Worth, Texas, and Mary Layne Million, Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Nov. 5, 1997; a brother, Paul T. Million Jr., and a sister, Mary Ann Million Luff. Pallbearers will be Judge Tom M. Bartheld, Paul T. Million III, Brent Miller, Mark Crowl, Carter L. Baumert and Larry Auld. Honorary pallbearers will be J. A. Allford, Dr. Robert L. Bartheld, Dr. T. A. Byrd, I. E. "Buck" Conner, Thomas S. Crowl, Dr. Samuel E. Dakil, Jerry Grubbs, Bruce Hall, Robert Harden, Gene Jackson, George H. Lampton, John Proctor, Ed Robinson, Fred Turner and K. Lance Woodliff. He passed away in McAlester at the age of 76. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints' Episcopal Church in McAlester with the Rev. Stephanie Swinnea officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
