In the late 1880's James Menefee (J. M.)Ingraham built a small frame building where the Lavaca Clinic now stands, and became the first merchant of what was known as Oak Bower. My great grandfather Samuel Jefferson(S. J.)his son helped him in the store and also farm their farm land.
James Menefee was the son of John Sutherland Ingraham and Rebecca Hardin Ingraham,he was born in Bedford County,Tennessee.
