An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, 5-16-1974:

Cloyce E. Byrom, 54, retired Gatesville rancher, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel and were conducted by Rev. Pete Griffin. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Born March 31, 1920, in Gatesville, Mr. Byrom lived in Coryell County most of his life. He was a football star during his high school days in Gatesville, and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during the World War II years of 1942 to 1945.
He married Miss Margie Ingram July 8, 1939. He was a member of the Hay Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wendell Byrom and Bill Paul Byrom, both of Gatesville; three daughters, Mrs. Jackie Pruitt of Gatesville, Mrs. Darrell Merry of Olpe, Kan., and Miss Sherri Byrom of Gatesville; his mother, Mrs. Guy (Era) Byrom of Gatesville; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mr. Byrom's funeral were Curtis Davis, Floyd Walker, Wilber Davis, Byrom Coward, Gordon (Bill) Graham and Milton Coward.
