Carl Junior Young, age 80, of De Queen died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Willis Knighten Hospital in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Dierks, Arkansas on February 12, 1925 to the late Carl and Dora Barnes Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a younger brother Doyle “Bunk” Young.

He was a retired Dierks business owner and member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for the past 32 years. He was a World War II Veteran. He was in the battles and campaigns of Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His recognitions and citations were the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and 2 overseas bars.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Helen Turner Young, by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carlene and Ronnie Davis of De Queen, LaQuita and Jr. Cox of Dierks, and Jeanene and Buddy Deen of De Queen; two grandsons, Paul Cox of Nashville, AR and Kyle Deen of Hot Springs and two granddaughters, Tajaha Stubbs and Darby Deen, both of De Queen; two great-grandchildren, Michael Vanvoast of De Queen and Addison Cox of Nashville; one sister, Jean Runge and one brother, Lon “Babe” Young both of Nashville, AR.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Rev. Joe Carlton and Rev. Kenny Fant officiating. Burial will follow in the Green’s Chapel Cemetery in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, at the funeral home.
