Blount County News: 21 Dec 1893: Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL; Mrs. Bethnia Cannon, nee Cornelius, died. She was a native of Blount County. Daughter of the late Bluford and Mrs. C.A. Cornelius who moved to Elyton after the war. Member of the M.E. Church South, married twenty years ago in Elyton.
Cannon, Bethula Cornelius, died Dec 1893; It is with profound regret that we heard of the death of Mrs. Bethula Cannon nee Cornelius, which occurred at Birmingham, one day last week. She was a native of Blount County, the daughter of the Binford[Bluford] Cornelius and Mrs. C.A. Cornelius, who moved to Elyton after the war. She was an exemplary daughter, wife and mother, and for more than a quarter of a century, was a faithful member of the M.E. Church, South. Over twenty years ago we attended her wedding in Elyton, and at that time had no thought that it would fall to our lot to write a notice of her death. [The News-Dispatch, Oneonta, 13 Dec 1893]
