Cornelius Harris, Prominent County Resident Dead
Funeral arrangements are being made today for Cornelius (Neal) Harris, prominent and lifelong resident of Randolph count, who passed away Wednesday morning in Clearwater, Fla., where he had gone for the winter. He was 78 years old and had been in failing health for two years.
The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isom Harris, an early pioneer family in the county, and spent his entire lifetime in the old White River community. For a number of years he operated a saw mill on his farm, three and one-half miles northeast of Winchester. He also ran a threshing machine in the community.
He had been a member of the White River township advisory board for nine years, being elected in 1938, and had served as chairman of the board for the past eight years.
Surviving are the widow, Emma; six daughters, Mrs. Gale Brown of Dunkirk, Mrs. Frank Sayers of Modoc, Mrs. Russell Mymer of Farmland, Mrs. Reed Hayworth, Mrs. Herbert Bosworth and Mrs. Herman Bosworth, all of Winchester; three sons, Lawrence of Winchester, Oscar of Ridgeville, and George of Portland; one brother, Lester of Marion; one sister, Mrs. May Baird of Indianapolis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body will arrive at the Maynard and Walker mortuary in Winchester Saturday morning.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday at the White River church, Rev. George Addington officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Park cemetery at Winchester.
Friends may call at the residence after 1 p. m. Saturday.
