New Iberia--A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Wilfred Gachassin, the former Levie Hulin, 91, of New Iberia will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Reverend Mark Derise will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Gachassin passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 4:50 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital.
A native of Youngsville, Mrs. Gachassin had resided in New Iberia for 67 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She loved to sew, and she worked at Nereaux Interiors as a seamstress for 10 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Gachassin enjoyed shopping, playing bingo and pekeno, and drinking coffee with her friends, but her greatest joy was having her family gathered around her to eat her wonderful cooking.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Richard and husband, Joseph Hilton Richard of New Iberia; son, Jimmy Romero, Sr. and wife Jeanne Olivier Romero of Houma; sister, Amelina H.
